Sector area extended through a length
A portion is a sector-shaped cross-section extended straight along the cylinder. Its volume uses the sector fraction; surface cut faces are not added
- Use exact fractions Half and quarter cylinders use 1/2 and 1/4; general sectors use θ/360.
- Exact coefficient When V = bπ cubic units is requested, enter b only, as an exact integer, decimal or fraction
- Capacity Use internal dimensions, calculate the exact portion volume, then convert to litres or millilitres before final rounding

Questions about this topic
Does a reflex angle still use θ/360?+
Yes. For example, 270/360 = 3/4 of the full cylinder
Are flat cut faces added to volume?+
No. Cut faces matter for surface area. Volume measures the space in the sector-shaped prism
Where can I investigate the source object?+
Museums Victoria collection item X 1561 (No-bintarno): https://collections.museumsvictoria.com.au/items/158691. The catalogue’s images have reuse restrictions; no image or traditional design has been reproduced here
Can I use a calculator?+
A calculator is allowed unless a question is marked no calculator
