Combine scalar multiples of matrices
Matrix \(M\) records the number of activity sessions run in one week of a holiday camp's first program, and matrix \(C\) records the number run in one week of its second program
In both matrices, the rows are Swimming, Archery (top to bottom) and the columns are Morning, Afternoon (left to right)
\[M = \begin{bmatrix} 3 & 1 \\ 6 & 6 \end{bmatrix}\]
\[C = \begin{bmatrix} 3 & 3 \\ 3 & 5 \end{bmatrix}\]
The camp runs the first program for 3 weeks and then the second program for 2 weeks
