Allocate a stratified random sample
A warehouse record set is divided into storage areas
A stratified random sample of 132 records is required. Allocate the sample in proportion to the group sizes
| Group | Population size | Number selected |
|---|---|---|
| Storage area 1 | 294 | 42 |
| Storage area 2 | 630 | ? |
Round each proportional amount to the nearest whole number, rounding halves up. If the total is too large, subtract one from groups that were rounded up, starting with the smallest fractional parts. If the total is too small, add one to groups that were rounded down, starting with the largest fractional parts. Adjust each selected group once. Break equal-fraction ties by adjusting the earlier group in the table
