Sector area and boundary
Convert the angle and identify the region
- Area A=½r²θ for radians, or (θ/360)πr² for degrees
- Perimeter For 0<θ<2π, arc plus two radii gives rθ+2r. At θ=2π, the disc perimeter is 2πr.
- Reverse θ=2A/r²; r is the positive square root of 2A/θ
Worked example
A sector has radius 9 cm and an angle of four-ninths of a radian. Find its area and perimeter
- \(\displaystyle l=9\times\frac49=4\)The arc is 4 cm
- \(\displaystyle P=4+18=22\)Add two radii; area is 18 cm² and perimeter 22 cm
